Mah Meri is Orang Asli live along the coast of South Selangor from Sungai Pelek up to Pualu Carey. The tribe is now no longer banned to marry to outsiders. The children receive formal education at the government schools (primary and secondary) nearby. Thus, some Mah Meri people already move out from the village and the tribe is getting smaller. At Mah Meri Cultural Village, you can learn about their skills and traditional games such as wood carving, leaf origami, atap weaving and slingshot with palm oil kernel. Mah Meri people pray for their ancestors every year during Hari Moyang.
They also believe that any living things dead or hunted must be replaced with the wood crafts. Some wood sculptures carved by Mah Meri people are recognized by UNESCO.
